آشنا برایم تداعی می شد. من به عنوان یک زن ایرانی که در کشورم زن ها هنوز هم در قرن 21 ام، برای به دست آوردن کوچکترین
و بدیهی ترین حق هایشان مبارزه میکنند، قضاوت می شوند، زندانی و کشته می شوند انگیزه و چیزی که به او قدرت میداد را به
خوبی درک می کنم . خوب می دانم چرا آرمینه دراین راه قدم برداشت و ثابت قدم ماند درحالیکه می توانست در آرامش زندگی کند
و سختی و ناامیدی های این مسیر را هرگز تجربه نکند بدون اینکه کسی اورا موظف به انجام این کار بداند.
اما چیزی که اورا متفاوت می کرد دغدغه مندی اش بود که اورا به سمت خروج از منطقه امنش سوق میداد. او قدمی بزرگ برا زنان
برداشت او بی وقفه تالش کرد برای اینکه زنان بتوانند رای بدهند، حقی بسیار ناچیز که همیشه از داشتنش محروم بودند و نبودش
آن ها را محکوم به زندگی ای ناعادالنه می کرد. هرچه بیشتر درباره او خواندم و دانستم بیشتر به او و تمام زنانی که برای این هدف
قدم برداشتند افتخار کردم.
این را وظیفه خودم میدانم که در اینجا اندکی از رنج های زنان کشورم و بسیاری از کشور های خاورمیانه رابا شما به اشتراک بگذارم.
زنانی که حق انتخاب پوششان را ندارند، حق انتخاب مسیر زندگیشان، حق خروج از کشورشان بدون اجازه همسر و یا پدرشان، و
دخترکان افعان که ذره ذره حق تحصیلشان را هم از دست می دهند. بماند باقی ظلم هایی که حتی بیانشان بسیار رنج آور و دردناک
است.
به امید روزی که زنان برای زندگی کردن کشته نشوند.
و در انتها به امید روزی که دغدغه ای به نام برابری حقوق زنان مطرح نباشد!

When I began to know Armine Nutting Gosling, I experienced deeply familiar emotions; her story echoed feelings I know all too well.
As an Iranian woman from a country where, even in the 21st century, women still have to fight for the most basic and self-evident rights and are judged, imprisoned, and even killed, I deeply understood what gave Armine her strength.
I understand deeply why Armine chose to walk this path and why she remained committed to it, even though she had every opportunity to live a quiet, peaceful life without the hardship and heartbreak that such a struggle brings.
No one forced her to take that stand.
But what set her apart was her deep sense of responsibility and her unwavering concern for justice, which pulled her out of comfort and into action.
She took a stand not only for herself but for women who had no voice.
She fought so women could one day vote, a right so basic, and yet one they had long been denied.
A right whose absence condemned generations of women to a life of injustice.
The more I learned about her, the more my admiration grew, not just for her but for every woman who stood beside her.
I see it as my duty to share, even briefly, a small glimpse of the pain still carried by many women in my country and many other countries in the Middle East.
“Women who can’t choose what to wear,
who cannot decide the course of their own lives,
who cannot leave their country without the permission of a husband or father,
and Afghan girls who are slowly being stripped of their right to education.”
And this is to say nothing of the other injustices that are too painful even to put into words.
I hope for a day when no woman is killed for daring to live.
And one day, hopefully soon, hope for a day when the issue of women’s equality is no longer even a topic of concern!
Let us hope for freedom!
